“Moon looks on” are a 7 piece band fronted by Sligo singer songwriter Stephen Gormley.

Described as a folk pop roots driven band, they are known for their energetic performances and foot stomping live shows.

The band Formed in 2016 and recorded their first ep within a few months.

This was picked up by a number of radio stations including Radio X in Manchester where it was championed by Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets) and Jo Good.

The band have  featured on the Other Voices TV show along with touring on the festival circuit across Ireland playing a multitude of venues, to name but a few, Electric Picnic, Sligo Live, The Westport Arts Festival, Knockanstockan,Ones To Watch Festival, Ruby Sessions, and shows in London including a support slot in Somerset House on the bill with Birdy.

2019 was a big year for the band so far with 3 gigs at Glastonbury and the prestigious 2000 Trees festival.

the band have been hard at work in studio and have 5 new singles ready to drop over the coming months with the first of these “ Friends Keep Dropping” due for a september release.

The band encompasses a fusion of both modern contemporary folk and soul, with little dabs of reggae, blues funk and pop. The bones of the music are built around the songs told as stories and then layered on a pulsating bass and drums backline, then weaved together with the harmonically and melodically rich sound of violin and piano playing counterpoint to one another over the backdrop of electric guitars providing a massive soundscape.

"moon looks on" are: Stephen Gormley-guitar & vocals, Aisling Bridgeman-violin, Jack Bird-drums, Laura Ryder- keys/synths, Eanna Harrison-bass. Jack Hussey- guitars, Matilda O Mahony - vocals
