SELK, are the alt-folk ensemble spearheaded by lead vocalist/songwriter Anna Jordan. Their forthcoming second album ‘Shed The Skin’ promises to be SELK's most personal and accomplished work to date. The record moves between full band intricate arrangements, to minimal evocative pieces and is set to be a stunning showcase of SELK's unique style and talent.

Recent press on single release 'Spill' from new album:

"With delicate guitar strumming, welcome violin instrumentation and Jordan's angelic, almost spoken word vocal utterances, it's a starry-eyed track that belongs in an Oscar-nominated indie movie. Cellist Kate Ellis and violin virtuoso Cora Venus Lunny add to the gorgeousness. If Rough Trade’s River Lea imprint are thinking of getting their cheque book out again, they might want to look in the Dubliner’s direction."

'Their sound weaves between genres, drawing on jazz, classical, avant-folk and much else, SELK’s otherworldly sound juxtaposes Jordan’s stark, emotionally raw lyrics and hypnotic acoustic with percussive grooves from Cassidy and the band.'

(Cormac Larkin - The Irish times)

The group's expanded lineup, featuring Barry Brady on guitar and Dave Redmond on bass, has added a powerful rhythm section that has transformed their sound since their debut album 'Beast', which was recorded as a duo. The record also features stunning string arrangements performed by cellist Kate Ellis and violinist Cora Venus Lunny (Crash Ensemble) scored by composer Judith Ring.

SELK's upcoming performance at The Grand Social on the 21st of June promises to be a gorgeous night of music. Performing this new album 'Shed The Skin' and some past works as an 8-piece ensemble, the core band members with the addition of Kate and Cora on strings, as well as backing vocalists Jenna Harris and Aoife Faughnan.

Support on the night from the brilliant Niamh McKinney.

'Shed The Skin' will be available on all digital platforms from 21st June 2023.
