About The Event

The Obscure Collective aims to bring you Techno/House and Disco nights in intimate surroundings. We are delighted to welcome Mark Laird, Purple Ice and LPM down for our next night in The Grand Social on the 20th of December along with a tonne of local talent.

Mark Laird:

Straight off the back of releasing his new Fly EP on Kerri Chandler’s label Mad House Records the Donegal man comes to Galway to show us why he’s been pinned as one of the countries most promising up and coming talents

Employing a unique brand of club orientated house that has done the rounds on YouTube, Laird has excelled as one of the more polished producers in a sea of young up and comers. With that being said, tracks like 'Funk That' may be fresh in our ears but Laird has a serious amount of air miles as a DJ under his belt, playing in clubs since the ripe age of 15.

Purple Ice:

Rob was first introduced to house music at a very early age and since then, pursuing a successful career in producing and DJ'ing has always been a dream of his. Over a decade after he first began his musical journey, he is certainly on the right path to acheiving his long term goal. ''I used to go through so many phases when I was growing up listening to music. I first got into electronic stuff by listening to Daft Punk, Justice, Boys Noize and The Chemical Brothers. After that, I began to explore different genres like Techno, Drum & Bass, Garage. As I got a little bit older my taste became more refined, but over the years, I gathered a lot of knowledge around Electronic music as a whole'' Rob began DJ'ing in 2009 when he acquired a copy of Traktor for his computer however, his first ever gig only arrived in 2018 when he was asked to play in Hangar just under a year after he put out his first track. Since then, he has gone on to play in other clubs around Dublin such as Xico, Berlin D2 and Wah Wah Club under the infamous Toast brand. His productions have also gained traction around the globe after being featured on Maslow Unknown, Gazz696, Moskalus, Definite Party Material and Doubleu.

LPM:

LPM is an incredibly talented DJ/Producer making a name for himself around Ireland and abroad producing some serious tunes to get them crowds bopping. He is also a regular with Toast Thursdays and had the Toast Stage at Life Festival absolutely buzzing!!

Some Tracks from the lads to get you all in the mood!!!
