Nightflight Present: ▲ NYE-FLIGHT 2012

Nightflight is proud to announce that it will be taking over both floors of the Grand Social this New Years Eve to host an extravaganza of Irish talent. With a mixture of both live and DJ acts, this is not only a celebration to ring in 2013, but a celebration of the finest electronic music that Ireland has to offer.

Headlining the bill will be a live performance from NEW JACKSON, famed for their nocturnal house jams with a ghostly disco tint. The combination of Diamond Dagger and David Kitt has resulted in some memorable and epic performances this year. With one hugely successful release down, ‘The Night Mail’, New Jackson’s second EP lands early in 2013 on Catalan label, Hivern Discs, which is also home to music from Spanish leading lights John Talabot and Pional. SHIPS, the new musical project from Simon Cullen and Sorca McGrath, have delivered some outstanding live performances in Dublin over the past 12 months. Electronic disco music at its finest, think the best parts of DFA and you have an idea of what these guys sound like. The two met a few years back and after an extended period of hanging out, sizing up, and sound searching, they finally got around to making some music. Simon and Sorca aim to combine their ideas and their passion for sounds that urge you to move and they are a firm favourite at Nightflight HQ.

After a storming set supporting Lindstrom in the Button Factory back in August, and more recently an incredible Sunday night jam at The Bernard Shaw, Nightflight is delighted to welcome ‘I AM THE COSMOS’ aboard their NYE flight. Expect a delicious blend of lo-fi vocals and pulsating bass lines that always cause a stir on the dance floor.

Going beyond the pale, Nightflight has travelled to Waterford to procure the services of GET DOWN EDITS, who will by laying down some disco edits along side house and party classics in their own unique style. In recent years the guys have been busy running and promoting their own “Get Down” and in the summer of 2011 they launched their own record label. Since then their releases have been receiving huge support from the likes of Greg Wilson, The Revenge, Jacques Renault, among many others. The lads have been prolific in the studio this year and there should be some serious disco finger action in the Grand Social for their set. WHITE COLLAR BOY is a two piece electronic garage group from Dublin. Gavin White and Mark Cummins met at Primavera Sound in Barcelona in 2011 and their shared passion for electronic composition inevitably led the pair to merge their creative endeavors. After a blistering performance supporting JAPE at Nightflight’s Halloween party, they were immediately asked to be on the bill for the NYE Flight.

HANDSOME PADDY also joins the bill and has been a long time darling of Nightflight. One of Choice Cuts main support DJs, he is, quite simply, one of the finest DJs Ireland has to offer. His scratching skills can be heard on the recent Fatty Fatty rework of Terence Parker’s mix Summer Madness. Expect a master class in cutting, scratching and blending as he seamlessly works his way through genre after genre.
